Rick Warren’s Church Needs More Donations

Pastor Rick Warren made an ugent appeal to the church he pastors (Saddleback) asking the members to donate funds. It looks like $900,000 was needed to balance the church budget. Warren requested that the shortfall be addressed this weekend and reportedly a lot of the 22,000 members have already stepped in to help. Recent news said that the donations have alreay passed the 2.4 million dollar mark and checks are still coming in.

Saddleback Church serves the Southern California community through more than 200 ministries, eight worship venues, a variety of counseling and support programs, Bible studies and seminars, local and global outreach programs, and a broad network of small groups meeting in local homes. Its purpose is to lead people to Jesus and membership in his family, teach them to worship the Lord and magnify his name, develop them to Christlike maturity, and equip them for ministry in the church and a mission in the world.

Pastor Rick Warren was born in San Jose, California. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from California Baptist University, a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Theological Seminary, and Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary.

Pastor Warren founded Saddleback Church in Lake Forest in 1980 with one other family. Today, it is one of America’s most influential churches, with approximately 20,000 people attending the weekend services. Saddleback offers more than 200 community ministries and support groups for parents, families, children, couples, prisoners, addicts, people living with HIV/AIDS, depression, MS, Parkinson’s, autism, and many others.
