British Teacher Loses Job over Prayer Offer

A British woman (Olive Jones) who taught math lost her job after offering to say a prayer for a sick child. According to news reports she lost her teaching position because her managers were worried that her prayer request to the mother of a sick girl could be considered bullying.

The parents of the sick girl were not believers. Once she found out she didn’t try and go ahead with the prayer. So, she didn’t actually pray, she only offered to pray. But that was still enough for her to lose her part-time teaching position, after the sick girl’s mother complained.

Olive Jones had worked at the Oak Hill Short Stay School and Tuition Service North in Nailsea for roughly five years. Olive was in complete shock when she found out and couldn’t believe she had lost what she considered to be her dream job.

Firstly she didn’t lose her job, she has been suspended- there is a big difference.

Secondly as well as offering to pray for the child she also talked about her belief in miracles. Bear in mind that this occurred in someone else’s private home. This was unwarranted and unprofessional behaviour.

This is why she has rightfully been suspended. I wouldn’t wish to see her lose her job but perhaps she might bear in mind that in future other people’s beliefs or lack thereof deserve as much respect as hers and perhaps not prosletize where it is neither necessary nor welcome.

I hope she retains her job but also learns where to draw the boundaries and doesn’t do this again.

You have got to be kidding me~! A kind and thoughtful gesture is seen by the world as an act of “WHAT?” I hope that Oliva is offered a job that is GREATER than the one she has… and I hope that God will recieve the glory. Any religon… any other than Christian is fine today… just as it was predicted yrs ago. My heart goes out to everyone who will be persecuted.
